​Rhythm'a'nng host and producer Kerilie McDowall is a music graduate and a former composer and jazz guitarist. Kerilie performed professionally in Toronto and Vancouver for many years. Kerilie's music has been recorded by Hot Air CBC radio and broadcasted on COOP radio, UTV and more. Kerilie played in the Vancouver International Jazz Festival while active as a musician and at local Vancouver clubs, concerts and festivals. With a grant award from the Canada Council, Kerilie studied in New York with Richie Beirach, John Abercrombie and Kenny Werner and continued studies in Toronto with Don Thompson, Lorne Lofsky, Rob Piltch and Ted Quinlan. Kerilie spent several years as a compositon student studying with avant garde composer James Tenney and was a former guitar student of Toronto's renowned Eli Kassner.

With Kerilie's roots in writing, the radio show Rhythm'a'ning focused on the best original jazz ,creative and improvised music by top North American improvisation artists. Rhythm'a'ning had a special fondness for BC musicians and showcasing their talent to you the listener. 

Rhythm'a'ning broadcasted at CHLY 101.7 FM in Nanaimo, BC, Canada from 2000 until May 2016. McDowall had been podcasting the show globally since 2010. The program aired to a large part of the west coast of British Columbia in Canada and Upper Washington, USA. Kerilie also broadcasted Rhythm'a'ning in its first year at CFUV, Victoria, BC decades ago originally with the name "Rhythm Changes" that changed to "Rhythm-a-ning," after a few shows. 

Kerilie McDowall spent 17 years as an award winning radio host, producer, podcast creator and engineer of the radio show Rhythm’a’ning working closely with the media and top award-winning performance artists. Kerilie runs an independent business with her PR/writing contracts and concert and island tour production services, and media liaison. She works with the media, musicians and arts organizations from the island and across Canada. Past clients have included the Vancouver Island Symphony, Bethlehem Centre, Dan Brubeck, Mike Allen, and Marianne Trudel/Ingrid Jensen tour, and more. Kerilie is currently a writer for The Discourse and has been a volunteer TV host on SHAW TV’s Community Producers and currently on The Show and was a volunteer television director from 2015-20 weekly then bi-weekly for Shaw Spotlight’s TV program Coast Connections under the guidance of Todd Jones, featuring host Elizabeth Heinz.
