HAPPY BIZ TIPS: WHEN TO POST -THE MEDIA LIST - SELL YOUR RADIO/TV SHOW/IDEA

How to make your media email list

Gather a list together of all your favorite radio, TV, (producers) and blogs, podcasts,  festivals, speaker conferences, and newspapers, industry publications (editors and writers). Aim for a list of 100 for local and 500 or less for national or international.

The nitty gritty elbow grease is you have to look them up, you can find Canadian Newspapers and Magazines lists, popular blogs, and podcast lists and harvest the editor and producers' contact information more quickly that way, and also by requesting your friends’ media lists, be careful to avoid duplicates.

For speaking engagements start local with your chamber of commerce, corporations, charities, associations non-profit organizations, businesses, schools, universities, school districts and private schools.

 Only send emails in small batches of 50 recipients to avoid being labeled as spam or use a mailing list company like MailChimp or convertkit. It is ok to send out unsolicited emails to the media, avoid a spammy-sales-sounding headline also to avoid being spam filtered.

List the emails in a long vertical list like this separated by commas or put the information into an Excel spreadsheet list with other information.

Paste the contact list into your email under bcc, (never cc, or To,) you do not want to upset people by making their email addresses visible to too many other people. Under “To,” put your business email address.

Best Times: Post from 9 AM and noon .
Frequency: 2 to 3 posts per day .

Facebook

Post from 6 PM to 9 PM and 12 PM to 3 PM .

Frequency:  1 to 2 posts per day

Instagram/Threads

Best Times: Post from 6 PM - 9 PM, 12 PM - 3 PM, and 3 PM - 6 PM 

Frequency: 3 posts per week 2

LinkedIn

Best Times: Post from 9 AM - 12 PM, 12 PM - 3 PM, or 3 PM - 6 PM 

Frequency: 1 to 2 posts per day 2.

Pinterest

Best Times: between 3 PM and 6 PM3

Frequency:  once a week 

Snapchat

Best Times: Snapchat’s peak usage hours are in the evenings and weekends. Aim for 3 PM to 6 PM1 Share regularly to generate interest.
