Summer Break & In the Zen Update

Creative Musings and News

Celestine Aleck (left) at Shaw Spotlight, 2019

There have been exciting moments these past few months, and most notably inspiring was seeing local Snuneymuxw storyteller and author Celestine Aleck’s story, The Sun and the Moon, come to life in Evann Siebensnew film.

The film, The Sun and the Moon, was a special collaboration with Crimson Coast Dance and local founder Holly Bright. I was so happy to see this phenomenally poignant reflection with dance as such a beautiful work of art. The film reminded me of how we as artists and individuals need to honour our stories of who we are.

For the creatives, it truly inspires deeply and it’s a close-up portrait of how art deeply mirrors and reflects the metaphoric “mountain,” of our personal journeys.

The film event moved me deeply, and it had a profound impact in its truer meaning and candid honesty. I hope you will take the time to view it, too.

Why I Haven’t Blogged- Re: Film News

At Shaw Spotlight, 2019

Many of you may have heard that I have had a recent Hollywood film distribution offer. Yes, that’s true. I am currently in a stage of fundraising and I am working hard to finalize an investor’s information kit and the final post-production stats for a future potential investor.

Note that I normally interview Canadians, and I am on break for the summer, however, I hope to eventually once things settle, (hoping by September/October) to get my interview with Angie Wells up. Her last album produced by John Clayton was an important doozie and you will want to hear her thoughts. I was very moved by her recent work Truth Be Told, and even if she releases another project, I will want to cover this one especially, no matter how long it might take me due to the subject matter. Here is a quick peek into that project:

Back to film.

Trying to track down all the project expense quotes and information has proved a challenge when everyone is on summer holiday, but I am persistently working away at the details. A lot of late nights and coffee later… and it will materialize, the details are quite complex. Wish me luck getting Speedy Gonzales in my corner! Remember that little mouse, Speedy?

This has become quite a “thing,” for many businesses post-pandemic, if you can even get someone to read your email these days, you are on top of things! Then of course nobody phones anybody anymore. I really liked the 1985-90 non-existent zero computer days. They existed computers, yes they did, unfortunately, but they were not so much a “thing.” I dislike the time-wasting aspect of computers and phones and I think that someone has to make the workings of all of that much more efficient. Sorting through hundreds of spam sales emails or too many texts or messenger notes is a nightmare. Especially when people think they should bother you on a Sunday or weekend rest day.

OK, next.

Your opinion, scroll down and take a peek, so do you like the new film biz logo? I am still not finalized on this very obvious self-titled business name yet, but it’s an idea anyway. I hope to finish off the work on my current film and then eventually make some more films, thus the thoughts of this below.

Re: A potential new film production company logo.

As I get the details together for my current projects to finalize, I am in a transition as well. I expect some major changes within my job career coming during the next year, so stay tuned and wish me some happy-going as I explore full-time local and remote job opportunities! I expect to keep current film activities part-time until I make my next film. If someone in your sphere is looking for a TV Director, a Scriptwriter, a Technical Writer, or an arts educator, (guitar, writing, publicity, film) do pass my name along!

I am excited to explore these next few months, I made a series of goal-setting plans for about 20 bucket list items some are short term others are long term. So would you believe that my next 5 years are planned out in about 20 pages? Does that include any more randomized life path opportunities? Likely.

Here are the top activities I would consider for employment:

  1. TV Directing/finalizing my film

  2. Scriptwriting or Directing

  3. Writing

  4. Creating online courses for guitarists and recording artists

  5. Working for an educational institution

(Re: Guitar, Music Theory, publicity, non-fiction writing, Filming and Film Festing for beginner directors/YouTubers)

  6. Production (TV/film) work

Here are another few long term bucket list items as I go along add some from the list above, too:

  1. Filmmaking (my dream project)

  2. Releasing some jazz albums

  3. Writing a few books, with a special book written as a tribute to my mother (1943-2023)

Behind the Scenes

For the very curious. Here is a peek sample of my new vision board, most of it needs to stay private, but here is a quick glimpse of some of the things that I love:

I admit it. I am a hopeless creative. How about you?
