In the Zen

Hey There,

You may have heard by now, but yesterday due to a recent exciting Hollywood global distribution offer with a well-established distributor, I announced our current $2M Film FundDrive led by myself and my investor. If you missed it, you can read the details here, below, with the full story.

Since our launch in 2020, we've been building In the Zone: Rick Kilburn alongside you, our viewers, readers, and friends, who have been supporting and cheering us on since we released the film March 17, 2020.

Seriously — it sounds corny, but you’re the reason we wake up each morning excited to write, film, and coach. And we’ve been fortunate enough to feel all the love back from you for over four years.

The film was shot with love by myself and an amazing cast and crew of experts and volunteers, and would not have been possible if not for Todd Jones and the team from Shaw Spotlight, who I volunteered with for over 7 years, being mentored by the team between 2015 to 2022.

We wanted to give the Nanaimo community the opportunity to donate and be a part of the journey right alongside us with your donations, we have been honoured to work in a city as beautiful as Nanaimo on the details and editing of the film. We are now accepting donations on paypal.com at my business address [email protected].

I would like to set up an incorporated production company and work with established funders like Telefilm as well.

My investor and I will consider a collab with exclusive select investor(s. )

I recently started using the word jazzpreneur to describe my penchant for all things jazz and combining it with business. I found I was getting crazily inspired by some major movers and shakers that I was aware of from the jazz world who had accomplished impressive feats. Especially accomplished musicians and producers like Rick Kilburn, or All About Jazz’s innovative Michael Ricci or Justin Time Records’ Jim West from the business world. I just finished writing two articles about West, and to be honest I would love to write about Ricci, too.

Re: My Nanaimo, BC, short film In the Zone: Rick Kilburn reached 13 million hits &12.7 million IMDB hits with myself as a Director in February 2024 (and September 2023). The total now is at 16 awards, with 13 in film, 2 music (Canada), one in radio (USA), 6 awards total from the USA. Film: including three Hollywood Best Web and New Media awards, Japan (2), Las Vegas Movie Awards (2), China (1), Toronto (1), Milan (1), S. Korea (1), Hollywood (3), London(1), and Nanaimo (1). See the award details. And more on the film HERE.

Why am I mentioning that? I am humbled and honoured by it, yet it is not about the bragging but for context that I mention it. There have been some interesting Hollywood-sourced developments recently related to this, and I do look forward to sharing more with you about it below, so please keep reading for a positive and exciting investor opportunity.

There is still immense interest in the film, daily fest invites still come in 4 years later, and also in 2024, Rick Kilburn still often achieves 9-11 million hits or more on a daily basis since I released the film starring him as the main feature artist, so there is still a lot of interest globally.

Some of the costs the film will have include extensive marketing, publicity, funnels, ads, incorporation, accounting/bookkeeping, professional and membership fees, trademarking and branding in US and Canada, GDRP details, legal fees, administrative staff, commercial insurance, virtual assistants, possible travel, and other costs.

We need new edits and minor changes as we go for the distributor’s preferred requirements, so we have technical fees to pay our editor and technical supervisor, with poster redesigns and/or adjustments.

We loved FILM HAUS!

Top 5 reasons why you should invest in filmmaking:

1. This is an exciting adventure! Film is a ton of fun, the Hollywood-inspired details around the marketing are quite something just in themselves, and films bring in often four to six decades of revenue, and that can be very lucrative!

2. My past work In the Zone: Rick Kilburn is a feel-good, happy, and inspiring film with zero violence and is completely “clean.” It was made just before the pandemic and has won 13 awards, the recent 13th was from the WIN Nanaimo Women of Influence Awards Creative Innovator Award in February 2024. I felt so humbled and honoured to be recognized with the crew and cast by the Nanaimo community.

This was work that could not be acknowledged prior due to the pandemic entertainment industry lockdown from March 2020-May 2022 in Canada. It felt really great to see the crew and cast get acknowledged locally publicly.

3. The film has already been seen globally and needs to conquer the world! From South Korea, Japan, China, France, London, Berlin, Toronto, BC, Hollywood, Las Vegas, to Paris, Greece, Switzerland and Australia, the film is getting around!

4. A taste of a bit of Hollywood through your donation or investment will get you regular newsletter blasts and updates and all the insider and fan details, and I will be negotiating offers with a new investor(s) (and a past investor) because my film In the Zone: Rick Kilburn has just gotten a major distribution deal offer from an established global distributor in Hollywood. So I am now putting out the call to investors so that we can globally monetize the film.

Donors will get special space on my future film website with your name and how you want to be recognized with title, etc., and either with or without the donation amount. Pop your preferences for my new website for your description here: https://poplme.co/sx3r8jLP/dash and click notes to add your thoughts to me, then for the in design website: your title, whether you want your donation amount to show or your city. Additionally investor opportunities are available.

5. Many wealthy and fun-loving people love to invest in film and not only just because of the significant return possibilities. Learn why here:
